I was at Bashas at 10:30 a.m. yesterday, and there was no crowd at all. Easy to move around the store.

Of course there was woman who would NOT stand behind the sneeze guard at the register. Otherwise the people who were in the store stayed appropriately socially distanced.

I went to Safeway 2 days ago found lot of shelves were full no problems finding anything they seem to be able to keep up maybe their supply chain is better. Walmart has been wiped out can't seem to keep up I haven't been back for over 3 weeks. I find lot of people just going shopping to get out of the house stores are stuffed with people I don't want to be around lot of people. I think in the next few weeks see stores start to recover as hoarders are filling up.

Kroger sales up by 30% in March.

I think people want plenty of dry goods and can goods "just in case". Meaning 2-3 week supply of food. Once people start running out of space in combo with getting their reserve built up, I suspect their purchase will drop off.

Still the newly purchased freezers around the country (good luck finding any) are being filled. That's were the perishable meat must have gone. Good luck on getting ground turkey. After 15 attempts checking online, I got some at Costco.com.

I've been shopping online (Costco.com, Samsclub.com (and picking it up), walmart.com and Safeway.com (a distant 4th). The canned good are starting to show up some more.

Most of the people I know used to go to restaurants three, four times a week. Many never ate a home cooked meal at all. Now they are at home cooking for themselves. That is part of the reason for the run on supermarkets. Anyway, we are not having any trouble finding things. The issue now is the stores are limiting how many people can be inside, so there are long lines and wait times to get into Walmart, for example. Dr. Birx said it is time to stop going to grocery stores and pharmacies. The next two weeks are going to be critical. We have turned the inflection point from relatively flat to sharp rise on the case model. Stay home.

I use to eat out literally 10 times a week. That's because I am normally in my home 20 out of 24 hours a day. And I have to say, I LOVE having the extra square footage, tall ceilings, and jazzed up back yard. I'd be going batty if I had a shoebox. I digress.

re: eating out. Point taken. The last time I ate at a restaurant was 18 days ago or even take-out. Also, kids are eating at home too. Still, as I said before, my local sears had 2000 calls recently about chest freezers.

I ordered online Fry's pickup this time I went with a smaller one 40th street and Thunderbird they had everything I ordered. We normally get take out 3-4 nights a week back on 3/19 we both got sick after eating Mexican takeout food. No fever, or cough but stomach, and body aches, terrible headaches I was convinced we had contracted the virus. Normally with a stomach virus I don't get flu like symptoms which is what we had. Now new evidence is showing that indeed you can contract it from food in the GI tract. Until an antibody test is ready I will never know if I had it already or not. A few online companies got approval from the FDA for in home testing as soon as I can get one Ill find out. I tried to get my doctor to give me a test but they refused because I hadn't traveled to China.

I went to Fry's on McKellips and Recker in Mesa this morning when it opened at 7.

There was a line waiting to get in but the frantic rush once inside to grab toilet paper/paper towels seems to have dissipated.

Having said that... by 7:30 the shelves selling those two items were completely empty.

Article in the paper this AM about seniors shopping in the early morning. Many line up 1 hour before opening then when the doors open they push and shove their way in only to find empty shelves.

The incubation period for COVID 19 is 2-3 days. IF you got it the next day, that wasn't it.

I feel for the restaurants who are going to be hurt. My wife and I spend around $20K a year eating out and I know I'm not alone. Right now, I don't trust someone else to be cooking my food. Certainly until after the peak hospital surge or the fear of "flair-ups". It could be many more months before I go out to eat. I bet it's going to take well over the year for people to return to their old habbits. Or maybe never to the same level.
