Hello,

We have a Hong Kong orchid tree, and its leaves are turning yellow and shedding.

Is it dying? What can we do to save it?

Lacking the mentioning of it's care and maintenance data one could only guess it's been overwatered.

I have one. They cycle leaves this time of year. New growth/leaves should be visible along with the leaves dropping.

They’re pretty forgiving trees but I would be watering every other day right now on them.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try watering it less.

Love those trees. Had a couple of them almost 30 years ago and couldn't keep them alive. Good luck to you!

If you get a picture of it, that could also help. Really they aren't too picky though.

I’m trying to insert a picture but for some reason it says it’s wrong format...

Looked at the tree, and it’s being watered by the sprinkler system which is shared with the lawn. I’m trying to keep the lawn moist and green (as per the HOA requirement), but at the same time it waters the tree too much. Is there a solution to this problem?

Is this the tree that produces purple flowers and has large, leathery leaves? If so, I have one in my yard and it cycles several times a year. Beautiful tree but it makes a huge mess and the leaves have killed 2 pool pumps in 8 years. Mine is going through a shedding cycle right now too.
