We are now thinking of possibly looking for a home to retire in Scottsdale.

While browsing Realtor dot com I noticed one agent advertised a house as being in the "desirable 85260" zip code. I just wondered what's so special about that area/zip code?

Thanks!

It's just marketing hype.
Depending on what you consider "desirable", the zip code areas adjacent are equally, if not more so.

I'm guessing its because homes in 85260 are very close to places of professional employment near the Airpark (the Airpark is in 85260), you can get on multiple interchanges of Loop 101 quickly from pretty much anywhere in 85260, and there is a lot of upscale retail around Scottsdale Road that is within 10 minutes of most homes in 85260.

It’s a fine zip code but nothing particularly special. It’s just Realtor/marketing talk. Every listing seems to say, “located in desirable ...”. You’re not missing anything.

It's a great location. It is desirable due to being in the middle of shopping, close to restaurants, freeways etc. Kierland and central Scottsdale are very nice.
