I was hugely upset when Super Shuttle suddenly disappeared. I would be a pain in most cities, but I was going to point out to the local government that it's a particularly big deal in an area that depends on tourism, so I thought they should subsidize something.

So I called up Sky Harbor and happened to find out that many of the SS drivers are still at it, working independently. It's just about impossible to find them on the Sky Harbor website, but they do exist - which makes perfect sense when I learned that the vans were reportedly owned by the drivers, not by SS.

So, good news!

SuperShuttle is ending its run to airports. The Scottsdale-based company, known for ferrying people to and from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and others around the country in its ubiquitous blue-and-yellow vans, is closing up shop by Dec. 31, according to the Arizona Republic.Dec 13, 2019
https://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/...ona%20Republic.

Looks like high airport fees and uber is the reason they stopped.

Perhaps you didn't fully read my post. I was saying that in the aftermath of Super Shuttle closing down, remnants of their employees have stepped up.

End of an era for sure, when Super Shuttle closed. I did't use them often but I did use them, the last time being on a trip to the Grand Canyon where I took Super Shuttle to Sky Harbor and what was then Arizona Shuttle up to the Canyon. I had good experiences and it was a treat to take a break from driving (though that drive is nice too). Glad you were able to find some drivers still in operation.

Why would anyone want Uber - constantly in trouble with the law, unreliable prices, swindling their drivers, and passing judgment on passengers?

Thanks, Yaz. I've looked at the Sky Harbor website, and it's so badly done that it's close to useless. I still haven't found anything, after a few tries.
