If you don't think we have a change of seasons, step outside this morning and tell me if it at all resembles summer.

Well, I don't like cold snowy weather. Yeah, it's going to be so hard for me to meet someone who likes it out here. I can already easily tell. Maybe it's just best to stay single forever and just to have one night stands. I want to have kids, I can always adopt children of my own. My ex-friend in Dallas has met tons of women and all of them love the DFW Metroplex. I'm not a Dallas person. I like Phoenix better. It's just tough to meet a good woman out here. I also noticed that the husbands and boyfriends tend to look really sort of cocky with caps. I'm below average looking. Maybe it's best for me to give up and stay single forever.

I think as people get older their expectations change. What some women might accept in a man at the age of 20-30 won't fly as they get older.

If a man has a steady job, no substance abuse issues and is a responsible individual there are women out there. Plenty of women... even in AZ.

Yeah, I meet all those. I bet even if I made a high income in a career I got promoted a lot, the girl would still want to live in Detroit or in Cleveland. Women just are hard. They will leave you if you don't want to move with them.

Time to think about living in a big house all alone.

I just drove through Albuquerque. I hadn't been there in many years. Wow is it bad looking. Gas prices were much higher than Phoenix, and it makes Tucson look like New York city.

I can't fathom anyone who would prefer Albuquerque over Phoenix.

And OP - hang in there - you want to date a girl who is open minded and not shallow. I met a wonderful woman from the midwest who was open minded and followed me across the country / world. She now loves Phoenix and would never move anywhere else, now that she is spoiled by Phoenix.

We just spent a week in the midwest, and a day in Albuquerque. She is pretty open with her thoughts, and told me she loves Phoenix so much more over those places, LOL.

Speak for yourself.

Just spent a week in the midwest. It reminds me why I'd much rather have the hot weather anytime over the freezing cold.

It boggles the mind that some people would want to freeze 6 months out of the year, and risk life & limb to drive in icy / snowy conditions.

I'd much rather put up with 3 months of hot weather, and 9 months of decent / no snow weather.

When it gets cold, it is not just unpleasant. It is nearly impossible to go out and do anything.

At least even in 120 degree heat, I can still go out and do stuff.

My wife and I feel the same. We can't stand freezing winters.

Sure the weather in N. Cal is great and if you can afford the cost of housing... go for it.

If not, you'll need to consider other areas of the country

Albuquerque would be an awesome place, if it ever got its act together.

I find the scenery there to be stunning! With the snow-capped Sandias in the background, the willow and cottonwood trees winding through the bed of the Rio Grande, the high country pinon forests, the Hispano/Indio cultural palate, and the proximity to Santa Fe and Taos. You really feel the history and deep roots in New Mexico, which is hard to explain unless you know the same feeling yourself.

Scenery wise, Albuquerque wins hands-down over Phoenix, which -- pardon me -- resembles Orange County, CA, both culturally and physically (sans the Pacific Ocean, of course). Phoenix, being a cheaper desert version of Orange County is why it is so beloved by Midwesterners, I suppose? I wish I could say nicer things about Phoenix, but I did not enjoy my time there, all three times I've traveled there to visit. I did not find people to be friendly, or helpful, at all. The opposite, in fact. Scottsdale was the absolute rudest place I've ever been!

Albuquerque and Tucson both share status as largely Hispanic cities, both are home to their state's flagship universities (UNM and UAZ, respectively), both have gorgeous backdrops.

What kills Albuquerque, though, is it's crime rate. It just can't seem to shake it for whatever reason? It's been plagued by hideous amounts of crime for 20-some odd years now.

I have to disagree with your statement about the people in Phoenix and Scottsdale. I've actually found people in both Phoenix and Scottsdale to be really nice. Maybe I just have had all good experiences here. In Tucson, I've found the people to be rather really cold and self reserved and not nice. It felt about the same in El Paso as it did in Tucson.

At work, one of my clients knew somebody from Chicago who moved to Scottsdale, and she said Chicago was friendlier. I was thinking to myself, why. Then again, in Chicago, people in the suburbs are nice, but not so much near downtown. Maybe her friend was from the suburbs far from the El and far from O'Hare and Midway.

You are spot on about Phoenix being like Orange County. That is one out of many reasons I love Phoenix. It reminds me of a more laid back version of Orange County. And it's much cheaper to live here and you don't have to deal with the traffic nightmare here like you would in LA or any of the surrounding cities. Also, I love how Phoenix feel so cosmopolitan, especially around downtown. It truly has that big city feel here.

I feel like the right woman will come along and I think she will love Phoenix as much as I do. Indeed, she will have so many friends and family here. I feel more optimistic.
