Looking for a recommendation for AC repair person. Doesn't have to be a big company, can be a 1 person company.

I just want someone that knows how to properly diagnose an intermittent AC problem.

Not going to overcharge me.

And is reliable.

Hopefully it's not hard to match those 3 requirements. If you prefer or it's not allowed you can PM me.

I already had someone come out after waiting 4 days and it cost me $100 and I didn't gain anything from it.

The compressor shuts off 3-4 times per week, usually around 4-7pm. System will run nonstop increasing the house temperature until I turn it off. After waiting about 1 hour it usually will work and cool then 50% of the time the compressor will shut down again and another 30 min usually gets it fully working again until the next day or so.

I do a lot of handyman type work in East Mesa but A/C I leave to the professionals although I can and have done that stuff in the past. It took me over a year to find a reliable A/C guy that I can trust and that won't rip you off.
Every A/C firm that I tried, absolutely raped my customers. It was always the same line. "You need this part. It's $2700.00 and takes 6 weeks to get. Or I can have a brand new system installed for only $7000.00 by this afternoon." The problem is that I'd look up the part and it would be $89.00 and I could get it locally or within a day. These guys are ripoff artists. They sell you a new unit you don't need, they remove your old unit, fix it in their garage for 50 bucks and resell it for $1200.00 plus install. I don't know how they sleep.
Sorry for the rant.
I finally found a guy that is honest as the day is long. Good guy. His name is Randy. Arizona Air Experts.
(480) 385-8136.
Ive had nothing but great experiences with this company. Randy is the owner.

Compressor is overheating, because it is constantly running. It is constantly running because it is low on refrigerant, or you are trying to make it cool too much in the hottest part of the day, and/or the unit is too small for the application. They use 1 ton per 400 sf in Phoenix.. and to get by with less, you need some of the variables in your favor.. like orientation, insulation, and proper attic venting.... and still quite a few won't change their pet hair covered filters..

Try Auto Dynamics in Sun City at 99th and Grand Aves. Independent repair facility, very honest and reliable, AAA approved and reasonable pricing.

I just went through this. For all the years I've lived here I've had an extended home warranty but I couldn't wait to go through that process due to upcoming surgery, so I paid to get it taken care of the weekend before the procedure.

There is obviously a leak which, looking back, I believe was there earlier on though the EHW contractors said things were fine on annual inspection. Some techs were good, some didn't have a clue and one was just plain lazy.

I think the warranty company will wait until the unit is completely fried before they will replace it, and I don't trust their contractors would do a good job installing a new system. The warranty has come in handy now and then over the years, but the reason I went with a warranty company at all was in case something big happened; well, here we are.

I may just dump them and get the unit replaced if I can find a good person. Making note of the name/number above.

I was told mine had plenty of r-22 but the compressor is just overheating because it's worn out.

Here are some you could call. I haven't used them personally yet, but they were recommendations that sounded promising.

Accutemp

Cooling 4 Less

Bill Tanner (sorry, I don't know the company, but it's 602-670-8318)

About waiting four days - that's why when I'm choosing a company I always ask how big they are.

Thanks for the numbers folks -- I'll see if any of these companies come out to the far east valley (San Tan).
