I understand that Phoenix doesn't get rain much... but how about lightning storms? I am a lightning storm fanatic. Living in New Mexico, the monsoon season really makes me smile. I am moving to Phoenix in September. Will this relocation mean the end of my beloved lightning storms?

You'll definitely see them here during the monsoon season. I don't know if they will compare to NM, but we do get them. I, too, like them a lot!!

Just leave your tuba at home, and you should be fine! I've been out in many-a storm, and never struck, although stay out of washes...flash floods are killers around here. In fact, you're much more likely to get knocked off of your bike by a crazy geriatric AZ driver than to ever see a lightning strike.

I remember seeing some fantastic lightning storms during monsoon season in Phoenix. They are fun to watch.

I'm with you Sheena. Although we all get excited for the chance of some rain it rarely ever happens and your only left with a muddy pool and a dirty yard! I hate it when I forget to put the umbrella down and I have to jump the fence to get it out of the neighbors yard. he he
