Unfortunately, the online version doesn't include the chart that's in the print version. But so far it looks like this is the second-worst year ever for mosquitoes and might well become the worst.

Rains of August increase mosquito threat

Get some DEET. The mosquitoes here are the bad ones that carry West Nile virus. AZ is the worst state in the US at the moment for West Nile.

I was at the dog park last night and there was a stark change in the number of mosquitoes as compared to the night before.

It seems like most viruses are "flu like" and normally a nonfactor until it turns serious (Polio, COVID-19, and West Nile, etc).

From https://www.azdhs.gov/preparedness/e...s-and-symptoms
"The majority of people infected with West Nile virus have no symptoms or only mild illness. Most individuals who have symptoms will experience “flu-like” illness, including fever, headache, body aches, swollen glands, and muscle weakness. Symptoms usually last for a few days or weeks. In some cases, West Nile virus can cause more serious conditions including encephalitis (an inflammation of the brain) and meningitis (an inflammation of the linings of the brain and spinal cord). Signs of more serious disease can include high fever, headache, confusion, disorientation, seizures, and coma. If you believe you may be infected with West Nile virus, please contact your healthcare provider."

I got West Nile while traveling several years back. I was off my feet for a week with the worst headache I have ever had. Doc said I had a mild case.

As a mosquito war combat veteran, I strongly urge you to "pinch" the bug off of ya, rather than slap it.

Personally, I find ticks to be the creepiest.

Another shout for DEET!

Okay, but are you able to tell whether it's killing the mosquitoes, or could it be that, like me, you just haven't had many indoors anyway?

Considering how fast mosquitoes movie, I can't imagine being quick enough and adept enough to pinch it. Although, really, dead is dead, so I'm not sure the method matters.
