Hi, in need of a storage unit for up to 12 months in the Valley. Can be anywhere, just hoping to find a larger unit (10' x 20') that will hold our things temporarily. Seems SO expensive here, over $200/mo. Do not need climate controlled or anything fancy, just a simple storage unit. Does anyone have a recommendation for a more affordable option? Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, like the real estate market, storage facilities are experiencing high demand and are raising their prices significantly as well. My experience is they hook you with an "introductory" rental rate and then increase the rate by some 25% after only a couple of months and then continue to increase periodically (every 3 to 6 months). The wording in the contract just states a generic statement about being their prerogative to implement increases at their discretion, no specifics about the amount or time frame for these increases. And of course you sign and agree to it ... or not. They have no trouble finding another renter. BTW I don't think you will find a 10' X 20' for much less than $240 a month. The cheapest ones I could find with a quick search were these:

Another thought, do you have any friends or family who live in a house or apartment with a garage that you could rent from them? I know some apartment rental complexes have garages available for an extra monthly fee as well.
