Especially during the holidays...do people actually follow the rules? Anyone out there report violators?

The only time I've thought of calling on people is when they burn unseasoned, skanky *&$# crap!

I can only think of a couple years where there wasn’t a “no burn” order for all the major holidays in the past 15 years.. usually there’s a story in the news a few days before each holiday that features a snitch line for the major suburbs.. your mileage may vary, but most burning restrictions carry an exemption for “cooking fires”.. reserve one bag of marshmallows and keep a stick handy & if you get snitched on, you’ll have an arguable defense..

No Burn Days regardless of Air Quality: Thanksgiving Weekend, Christmas and the week after through New Years. They always call them no burn days and no one listens to them. I don't know of anyone that has had the police called on them though.

Chestnuts are better when roasted on an open fire.

Someone should write a song about that.

More homes have gas fireplaces these days (though everyone in my area seems to have backyard fire pits now). Still, if one is out on Christmas Eve the air looks like fog and the smoke is overwhelming. The no burn is typically ignored then and probably most other days it is on. Anyway, if one buys the La Nina correlation then we can expect more no burn days as they are on the nice, clear evenings under high pressure that a dry winter brings.

Was it last year? New Year's Day....The Fireworks Aftermath.

At least pinon smells nice.

Most people take those as a suggestion anyways.

Maricopa county has a program that will give you $75 towards a propane fire pit. I did it and now enjoy a backyard fire more than I ever did with my old wood burning fire pit.

Really? You don't miss the aromatic smoke from wood? The satisfying sound of wood "popping" from the flames?

I've been tempted to do that sometimes in my neighborhood. Not because I really want to be "that" neighbor, but I could swear that someone in the area likes to burn a combination of burnt popcorn/mulch/wet paper/dog poop in their fireplace or firepit.
