Recently I've noticed Uber getting more expensive (but then so has the price of gas.)
A lot of that is because Uber is now a publicly held company with the expectation of turning a profit.

My experience is that Lyft is more expensive, and when it's similar, drivers are further out.

I haven't noticed Uber jacking up prices due to IPO.

They’ve been public for 2.5 years now. Way too much has happened to correlate any price increase to their stock offering.

This is really a non issue. It takes an extra 10 seconds to check both apps before requesting a driver. In my experience, Lyft is often cheaper.

The main thing I will note is that Uber seems to be the worse actor of the two - worse to their drivers, worse to their riders.

I noticed that Lyft was "more affordable" than Uber 3 years ago. My assumption is that Uber carries a "bigger name", that cost is passed down to the consumer.
