Plenty to do that I've discovered just from visiting a few times from up north.
1) Diamondbacks games - great stadium, fun way to kill 3-5 hours
2) Museums
3) Galleries
4) Neat unusual places like Wonderspaces
5) Disc Golf - about 30 courses around Phx, just go early and be done by 10.
6) Find a pool to lay by
7) Bars
8) Restaurants

I grew up in VA and I'll take the heat over the humidity any day......

Wonderspaces can usually be walked through in well under an hour and is wildly expensive. You could spend all day at the Met in nyc for the same price as a ~30 minute visit to wonderspaces in the mall food court.

$20 - $24 is wildly expensive now?

For 6 art pieces and roughly 30 minutes of “entertainment”? Definitely. I’ve payed the same or less to get into some of the finest art museums in the world.

For context, The Phoenix art museum costs about that, and you get infinitely more content. And even then, the phx art museum is still insanely overpriced for the quality it offers. Phoenix indoor activities are almost universally overpriced and underwhelming. The majority of our cultural offerings are on the level you’d expect to find in some smaller regional city like Des Moines or boise, not a metro of 5 million.

Is that per person? Because the answer is yes. I guess I should have clarified what cheap meant to me. The Phoenix Zoo's entrance fee is not cheap. Ten to fifteen dollars is probably something I'd consider cheap for an entrance fee, assuming I don't do said activity very often.

When I lived in AZ, I slept a lot in the summer :P A friend of mine used to get all his walking done at the local mall. He'd spend all day there, walking, having lunch, talking to people, seeing a movie.

I used to hike at 4:30am when it was still "cool." Ha!
