Does anyone know of a great place to stay for a vacation in Phoenix? I'm thinking of a resort or resort and spa and hoping to find one that might have special rates for AZ residents now that summer is here.

Mostly I want to relax, swim and enjoy nice meals. I don't have kids.

Thanks for your help!

Most of the resorts have discounted rates in the Phoenix area for Summer, i.e. low season. We have done AZ Grand, Pointe Tapatio, Hyatt Gainey Ranch and some others in the past. Pick one and see what their rates are. I don't know that there were any special rates for "Locals"...just deals for low season.

All good suggestions, if you have kids. Those places are full of them. If OP wants quiet, may I suggest Andaz Scottsdale or The Phoenician. They are typically more expensive, but well worth it if you want relaxation.

Thanks, as stated in my post I don't have kids so I will check the places you mentioned.

I did see one that had specials for AZ residents, it might have been the Biltmore but now I can't remember.

We've stayed at a few of the Scottsdale resorts over the years. The Hyatt Regency at Gainey Ranch has one pool that does not allow kids, which we appreciated. (At least that was true ~10 years ago). We did some of these while house hunting. I'd go on Hotwire and get a 4-star hotel in Scottsdale. That can be a bit more random, of course, but the prices were great.

One that's on the south side of the metro area is the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass. There's a really high-end restaurant there with an unusual menu, if you're into that sort of thing. The sunsets can be pretty awesome. When we stayed (again, quite a few years ago) the rooms were a bit tired, although clean and well-maintained. I only mention this because some people expect to be in a sparkly new room when they're pampering themselves. Of course it's possible the rooms may have been updated since we were there(?).

Try the Hotel Palomar (Kimpton) downtown. Some others that I can think of which are more adult friendly are W Hotel and the Valley Ho. They're both in Scottsdale, and I've heard both have pool parties regularly during the summer months, which are primarily for the younger crowd, but these places cater more to adults and young singles than families with kids. Same holds true for Talking Stick Resort ... not a place I recommend because of the fringe location, but it's definitely more adult themed due to being a hotel/casino with nightlife.

We'vc been to a bunch. Many were previously mentioned.

Soon, we will check out the downtown Sheraton for a couple of nights. And watch those pesky Diamondbacks get spanked by my Detroit Tigers.

Point Tapatio is underrated.

Gainey Ranch was one of my favorites until "Vu" closed.

The best one that we have done was at Royal Palms.

Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas. Reasonable summer rates considering you're in a room that goes for three or four times that amount if it were 'in season'. If you're not married to having your meals at the resort, there are ton of excellent restaurants within walking distance with my favorite being SumoMaya.
