Hey everyone! I'm wondering if y'all can give me some good date ideas here in the Phoenix area. It's way too hot outside right now to do any of the cool things outside. I'd like something that's fun and would allow an environment for some good conversation, since I am still getting to know her.

Also, anything near the west valley would be appreciated. She lives in Goodyear and I don't really want to spend hours driving all over the valley.
Thanks!

Take her to Peoria or Glendale. In Glendale you could browse downtown's old shops then head over to Westgate.

Browsing downtown's old shops and Westgate both involve being outside for a lot of time, I wouldn't want to do either in this heat.

LOL are you serious? You do know you live in Phoenix right, its hot here and you are going to let the heat stop you from doing something for a short period of time outside? That's unrealistic.

What about tubing the Salt River? Its a pretty relaxing float down the river, just bring lots of drinks and youll be good. The water is pretty cold, making the outside temps more bearable.

I can't help with southwestern part of town, which is mostly unknown territory for me, but you could drive in on the 10 and spend half a day at either the Heard Museum or the Phoenix Art Museum. Both air condition their galleries thorougly in order to protect the art, so you'll be comfortable. The exhibits will give you plenty to talk about, and both museums have good on-site cafes run by Arcadia farms. Plus, an art outing should make you look more interesting in the eyes of any woman worth pursuing. There's also the Arizona Science Center if you want something more hands on.

it's a long haul to the salt river from goodyear but not a bad idea - although usually not that intimate

in the arrowhead area you could go ice skating - which is a weird concept at 105 degrees then grab some food & drinks in the area - both are near the sports complex

on the nicer sid you could hit Reds Steakhouse (at the wigwam) for happy hour then make your way to westgate - the dueling piano bar is a lot of fun and margaritaville usually has some good cover bands going - you could also incorporate a date night movie at the AMW

going the other direction it would be possible to go bowling as there are lanes in avondale

if she likes wine I highly recommend the wine tastings at WineStyles off Indian School Road just east of Dysart - it's $5 and you usually get 5-6 pours - may be fun to have some wine and talk - there are a couple tables in there and the selection he puts out is usually pretty decent ........... there is also a good BBQ place and frozen custard/cofee shop in the plaza

let me know what you kind of vibe you are looking for and what you like to do and I may have some more ideas

best of luck on the date!

Go over to Peoria or Glendale. Take her to a nice little cafe restuarant to go eat and check out one of the little taverns/pubs they have there (they are pretty quiet and tasteful in the afternoons, so you can still carry on a good conversation and still have a good time).....GOOD LUCK, SWEETY!!!

It's realistic for me. I hate the heat with a passion. Unless I'm by the pool in the summer, I try to stay out of the sun as much as possible.

Excellent ideas...true that it's not on the west side but Goodyear to Downtown is about 19 miles, straight shot on the I-10 and it gives you a bit of talking time in the car. Not only that, but if you pick her up in Goodyear and do something in the north Glendale area, your driving time won't be much different.

I think the Science Museum would be the best place...it's a fun place, you can talk, but it also keeps you busy so there's no time for any awkward silent moments. Maybe follow it up with lunch or dinner at one of the places downtown...you can go fancy or casual, you'll have a few choices open.
