While I do not particularly care for Scottsdale, any where in the northern part of the town is nice, and a good place to raise a family. Just stay away from the southern part I.E. Scottsdale rd and Mcdowell.

Look at Goodyear, Fountain Hills, Chandler, Anthem, Surprise, Verrado, Desert Ridge, Gilbert, Ahwatukee, Litchfield Park , Arrowhead Ranch, N. Peoria, North Central Phoenix, Encanto-Palmcroft, etc. etc. Too many places to list really.

Agree. Go as far north in Scottsdale as your wallet can take you. If that is not too far, then pick another city which is cheaper and just as good or better a place to raise a family.

Deer Valley and 99th Avenue is a good place to start; good neighborhoods, great schools and lots of shopping areas like the new Lake Pleasant center.
