That is your opinion. I have 2 dogs and no human children. My dogs are my children and are treated as such. My heart did sink when one of my dog 's leash broke and I thought we had lost her. To some people, a dog's life holds just as much value as a human being's life.

I agree with the OP. I do not think justice was served but then our legal system is seriously flawed especially when it comes to animal cruelty charges.

What did you all expect? Cops are exempt from all the silly little laws that they try and jamb down our throats. They commit crimes at will without consequense.

They make me sick.

I agree 100%.

I realize Sheriff Joe has his faults ... but at least his mind and heart are in the right place. He favors tough punishment for those who break the law, and/or violate others' rights ... and he has zero tolerance for animal abuse. Often, those who are cruel or neglectful to pets/animals are that way to people too.
And you know who has had animals die because of negligence of his officers...have they ever been charged? Shall we even go there...because you know the answer...

12 hours in the back of a car in this weather without worry or bothering to check on it? Are you kidding me?

On August 11 2008, they should have left his ass in the back of the same car at the same location for the same duration and then, if he had made it, let him out....

Of course there are so many unjust cases out there that this one is far from an example of a really bad one.
I always wondered why the Statue of Lady Justice was blind. I realized later on that she was born a healthy chick but seeing all the injustice in this world, she blinded herself and grabbed an old school scale to sort sh.t out.

My sister has similar attachment to her dogs as she has no children. I understand the bond but when you have a child and pets if you don't hold your child in higher regard you have a serious sociopathic personality problem. Dogs are animals and children are human beings. Not even close in my book as to which life is of higher value. If I had to sacrifice my dog Jake, a 6 year old Aussie with the sweetest disposition ever, for the child of a stranger there would be no hesitation to save the child.

It's just about treating animals kindly--this guy leaving his dog in a car that long. Common sense would say he's gotta be some type of jerk.

I don't know what the human or animal debate really accomplishes. Some people think more highly of their pets than of certain people. Who can't agree with that?? There are alot of people who are much less deserving than some pets.

How about Jake vs a scumbag in prison serving for double-murder? Don't be too quick to call animal lovers "sociopaths", there are some variables that could make a big difference as the example given above.

Besides, you are lucky Jake doesn't know how to use a PC or read English otherwise he would have long taken a big bite out of your ungrateful arse.

Very well put. I could not have said it better myself.

Did anybody hear that Lovejoy might file a lawsuit of his own against Maricopa County? This guy is a real piece of work. First, he leaves his partner to suffocate and die in the August heat ... then after he's cleared from any criminal charges, he decides to seek revenge on those who went after him.

He should be satisfied that he was found not guilty after he was clearly in the wrong. Isn't that good enough for him?! The people of Chandler should take some action, and demand that this idiot be removed from the police force permanently.

I really prefer animals over people any day.
