Would like to find a 1 bedroom sublet/lease for around 5 months while attending school. Not interested in a house with room rentals , but possible 1 roomate might work. Looking for a nice "safe" area less than 15 miles from Manicopa Fwy and W. Elliot Rd. Moving from out of state and it has been difficult to find openings for short term rentals. Any suggestions would really be appreciated as stress is major.

Thanks

Craigslist.com is a good choice to check for roomates and availability. Tempe is filled with good places for students, though the places closest to campus can be a little run down. South of university up to 5 miles or so is all safe and mostly students. One consideration is driving to school, parking is VERY tough.

You can also try to find a place near one of Orbit's stops, that's the free Tempe shuttle. I haven't heard anything bad about it. Even my old room mate, whom was one of the snobbiest people I've met, took it a few times when I wasn't available to drive her around.
I tried finding a place in Tempe as well, to sign at least a 12 month lease, but the prices are high for the quality... So I chose one of the Mark Taylor properties, at 101 and Chandler, since you can easily jump on the high way and get to ASU in 20 min. Plus, they have 3, 6, 9 and 12 month leases and most of their properties are safe. Still expensive, but for someone like me who can't visit the property before relocating, it's safer than all other options.
I started with Craig's list initially, but I wasn't impressed...
Good luck!
