Default What can you tell me about...

Tonopah? Good, quiet, little to no crime, high speed internet access, decent schools, etc. place to raise a family? Still looking around some and wanted to know what the area is like Thanks!

All that I know about it is that it's a small town about 45 minutes West of Phoenix on I-10 that is mainly trailer homes on large lots. Not much going on, and virtually no services. Oh yeah, and it's right next to the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant. I zoom by at about 90 MPH on the way to California.

The newer trailers are nice, so that's a plus - large lot is also a plus (we tend to be fairly private people, too). So, probably a good place for us? Power plant has it's negatives I'm sure, but outside of that we're more worried about crime.

If you want to be that far from anything, I don't think crime is a big issue out there. Decent schools? Don't know what elem school or high school even serves that area. Good place to raise a family? That depends on how you define that. For me, it would be no, because there is NOTHING there. Some sort of cultural/social amenities would be required if I were raising a family.

How far is Tonopah from stores and doctors? Is it nice for retirees?

It does seem like a low crime area considering every house or mobile home is sitting on at least an acre of land. Those mobile homes look good and spacious on the inside, I could see myself living in one. Since they're not in a park, I don't think there are any HOA fees. I'm guessing my cell phone wouldn't work there though...
