Hi, my girlfriend and I are interested in moving to Phoenix or Mesa, AZ.

Could anyone let us know which is better for public transportation? Are the busses gross like here in LA? Trains, subways or trollies?

Thanks!

Definitely Phoenix and preferably somewhere on the light rail line if you want a non "gross" mode of transportation.

It seems rail is pretty gross these days according to one local media outlet:

Actually, the buses are quite clean and "non gross", particularly on the main lines used for commuters. I've read the stories about cleanliness issues on the light rail, as the cars on the train, unlike the buses, are not taken out of service when there is a "sanitation problem" involving bodily fluids, to put it gently.

Phoenix is a pretty clean City to get around in, even the older busses are decent.

Light-rail is new and state of the art, and it's getting a lot of riders!

Phoenix is nothing like Detroit or Cleveland where everything is old, rusted out, and gross!!!!!!! No 'eeewwwww' factor here as far as Transportation IMO.

Sarah Fenske has good investigate skills, but her own biases often influence how the results of that investigative reporting are presented. I ride the trains at least four times a week and have yet to encounter anything gross. As for the buses, they're noisier, slower, and less comfortable than the trains but definitely not "gross" by any reasonable definition of the word.

Thanks for the info. It really is a deciding factor on whether we make the move or not. We currently live in Santa Monica and the busses can be not only gross, but dangerous.
