This thread is meant to be a poll to see if people want to have some RE statistics posted. It is not meant to be a debate of the merits. Thanks.

During the past few months I have posted some monthly statistics on the Phoenix area real estate market. It takes a lot of my time to select and type in the numbers for various areas to C-D.

I receive the statistics from the Cromford Report, and recently someone has elected to try and discredit the reports by attacking the President of the company because he happens to also be a realtor.

The statistics are gathered daily from the MLS and county records. I post a very small fraction of what is available in the reports.

This statistical information is timely and I feel it's valuable to anyone who is in the market to sell or buy a home, or just wants to know what is going on, because the numbers show what is actually happening in the market today, along with the developing trends.

Of course, you have to do your own forecasting by using the statistics and the developing trends, coupled with all the economic news, both positive and negative.

By the second day of the month I usually have the previous months stats. By the 6th of the month I usually have the foreclosure activity numbers.

Since this person appears to be so vehemently opposed to the reports and the President of the company, I have to question if perhaps others on C-D share that same opinion, and may not want to see the statistics.

My feeling is that whether one is negative or positive on the RE market, they should want to know what the market is currently doing. But I may be wrong.

If people do not want the statistics, then I won't waste my time typing up the numbers and posting them.

So here's the deal.
  • If you want me to post these statistics, then please let me know on this thread that you want to see them.
  • If you don't want them posted, let me know that also.
If enough people respond wanting the stats, then I will post them.
  • If not, then I won't post them.
I'm not going to take the time to debate the merits of the company, the principals, or the statistics here with anyone. It's either you realize the value and want to see the stats and use them as you see fit; or you don't.

I'll go with your choice.

Disclosure: I do NOT have any business or financial relationship with the Cromford Report, nor with the principals of the company, except that I am a subscriber to the report.

Please post the stats. If the guy you refer to doesn't want to believe the stats, he needs to pass over the thread. I pass over a lot of threads that hold no interest for me.

Definitely post Bill.

A former co-worker would say, "In God we trust. Everyone else bring numbers."

I honestly don't care, but lean towards no, so I voted that way. I am not in the real estate industry, but am sitting on the fence and considering buying. I have access to good data sources and do my own analysis.

As people above me have said, you don't have to read all the threads! There are a lot of threads on this board I don't read!

So far, it looks like a lot of people want to see the statistics. Only a few have voted No.

While I'm waiting for the poll to end, I set up a blog on City Data to post some of the information. I posted the Cromford Market Index for May 31 along with the definitions so everyone can understand what they're seeing. Comments can be made on the blog.

Here's the url for the blog entry: https://www.city-data.com/blogs/blog6...y-31-2009.html

In the meantime I'm also checking with the Cromford Report principals to make sure that I'm not violating any copyrights and that I have their permission. Their reports are mostly in graph form so I can't just copy and paste; I have to decide what information will be helpful to many people and type it all in.

If the poll continues to show that more people would like to see the stats, then I'll get them posted next week. I won't have time this week.

What I need to do first is determine a format, and stick with that format so as to reduce the amount of time each month it takes for me to do that work.
