I like the Hyatt downtown. I think it's on Adams. (It's been a while)

From Glendale to Scottsdale is a pretty wide area. Having said that, if it was me I would look for a hotel somewhere near the 51 between Camelback Rd and Northern. Stay closer to 51 as opposed to I-17 if you want to be centrally located between the two. Either way it's a pretty wide stretch of east/west driving and you'll be using surface roads such as Camelback or Northern as opposed to a major highway to get to either Glendale or Scottsdale.

Or you could stay at the Hyatt downtown or the Marriott near the airport at 44th street. You'll use I-10 to get to the 101 if you're going to Glendale and you can use the 202 Red Mountain to get to the 101 if you're going to Scottsdale. That'll put you further south of the central areas of Glendale and Scottsdale b but that'll prolly be easier for you.

Have fun.

I have a friend that just stayed at the Biltmore - they have summer specials and got a room for $119 per night...then she looked into some other discount and ended up getting it for $90. Nice part of town, off Camelback between the 51 and the I-17.....Glendale is to the west of it and Scottsdale is to the east of it I believe.

Yes I would recommend the Biltmore or Phoenician for the upscale resort package that happens to be relatively cheap in the summer. But these resorts aren't really close to freeways. In that case, I would recommend the Sheraton downtown. It is a new hotel and the rooms are actually very nice! They have flat screen tv's in every room (I think; the rooms I saw had them) and the hotel bar/restaurant is pretty impressive and is named The district...with a lower case d.

use hotwire, orbitz, priceline, etc. to get a decent rate....summer is cheap in the Phx area for hotels, so should get a decent place for $50 and a great place for $90....

the area is very large...Scottsdale to Glendale is about 25 miles

i would definitely look around a bit

although you are coming after when they traditionally end the summer rates (labor day) - with the economy the way it is I would be surprised if you couldn't find a good promotion or two that lasted through september

The Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak - they have reasonable summer rates and it's on 16th Street - just off the 51, halfway between Glendale and Northern.

We stayed at the Hyatt downtown last year in July. Very convenient for what we wanted to do and we got a good rate but they charged for parking and for internet service. If I remember correctly it was about $15 for each per day.
