Wondering if new cars come with tinted windows in AZ or is it an extra cost?

when we lived in Arizona, we had to pay to get our windows tinted, because there are several shades to choose from, but it was SO worth it - just be careful if you drive into California with dark windows, I'm not sure if they still have a problem with it

Oh, so you'd need to maybe not go with the darkest tint in order to be legal in CA?

What would be a hoot would be of the California CHP stopped an Arizona LEO on official business just over the border in Calif due to the latter's patrol vehicle windows being dark tinted.

I believe the max is 30% for the front side windows and absolutely no tint on the windshield . . . possibly Federal Law or at least most States.

Also, I believe most vehicles have some degree of "Low E" (whatever that means) glass nowadays so adding tint is more for image.

I disagree that adding tint is for image. I have a toddler and trust me, the darker tint is to keep the car much cooler than without and prevents the buckles on his car seat from burning his legs, also helps prevent fading of the fabric. My husband has a lighter tint and we can definitely tell the difference.

No, it's not standard, but most salesmen will throw in the tint for free if it makes the sale.

That's good to know. Nothing I like better than haggling over the price of a car
