We will be moving to Phoenix from Pittsburgh by the end of the year and I would like to know where are the good areas to rent a 3BR apt. or house?

Please provide more particulars, like where you are planning to work if not retired. The Phoenix area is very spread out, and there are lots of decent areas to live. Give us something to help you narrow it down.

First, I'd start with how much are you looking to spend. Want to be close to a popular city out here like Glendale, Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler??? Do you want to be in a historic neighborhood, a central area, near the mountains??? This is huge area to cover for such a broad and open question.

Default Specifics

I plan to seek an apt. anywhere from $800 to $1200 per month for rent. There are no young children in the family (all adults). I'm seeking employment in the Social Services field (pursuing master's.) Thanks for all of your replies.

There are lots of choices in terms of nice areas to live, but where you live is going to be largely determined by where you work. Commutes can be very long here, as the Valley is so spread out. How much time have you spent here in the past?

My guess is that jobs in the social services area are few and far between these days. Once you find something, then you can determine where best to live.

You can rent a house for $1000-$1200, apartments will run around $900 for a 3BR depending on locaiton.
