Well, we just moved here and I could use a little advise. Our house backs up to a golf course and they have been seeding over the course with winter grass so the snowbirds will have a nice place to play. This seeding operation has brought hundreds of doves, I guess it is Doves and not pigeons. They have been crapping all over my back deck area and it is a mess! What can I do to get rid of them? I moved here from Washington state, and up there it is quite common to post one or two of those plastic fake Owls, and that scares them away, kinda anyway. Will that work here? What else can be done? People....help me out here

Get some cats or a very silent pellet gun.

The overseeding only lasts a couple weeks. Once the germination begins the number of birds will decrease.

Nope, our doves are smarter than Washington state doves, they know the difference between real and plastic.......................

I second the pellet gun. My neighbor shot a few. Pigeons are smart - they never came back to his house. It's (shooting them) not exactly my approach, but it is effective. The rest of us got bird spikes and they seem to work, but you have to put them everywhere.

Also agree that the doves will go away soon as the grass sprouts. So if you did not have a problem before, you will not have one again fairly soon. Live and let eat!

Get a high pressure squirt gun

I picked one up at target for like twenty bucks it shoots about
twenty feet it's a great stress relief and won't harm the birds

After awhile a few of them got brave so I bought a R/C Jeep
it's way more fun then the water gun, just have to remember to charge it up

In spite of being laughed at when I posted this simple fix before, Richard, here goes . . .

Hang about three or four blank CDs (small hole drilled about 1/2 inch from edge) from any overhang or tree limb with fishing line. For some weird reason both Pigeons and Doves dislike the flashing created by the spinning CDs.

Granted at first it sounds and looks kinda goofy, however, I tried it a few years ago and have been Dove Poop Free ever since.

Good Luck

This is the company Arizona Nevada Pigeon/ Bird/ Bee Control or Removal Specialist who has responded for us before in these situations. They put up huge bird netting to prevent them anywhere to perch and poo seems to work pretty good.

The LA Fitness gym in LA where I work out has an overhang over the front entrance that those pesky doves would sit on. Eventually someonehad the bright idea to put some wire with long barbs all along the inner overhang and two fake owls. No birds no more. And the sidewalks below are significantly cleaner.

I had a problem with pigeons a few years ago, tried the fake owl, CDs, spikes, etc. Nothing was working so I bought a pellet gun, shot one bird and have not seen a pigeon anywhere near my house since.
