I am looking to relocate to Phoenix this summer and am very interested in learning about some of the better subdivisions in the Phoenix metro area. I have my own business and would like to be about a 30 minute drive to downtown Phoenix at most. I really like the Ahwatukee area. Want excellent schools, community oriented area, proximity to mountains, safe area. In the 200-250k for 1800-200sf 3/4br home. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!!

You will find many nice subdivisions in every city in the metro area and really need to make a trip to find your place. You will be able to find a comfortable house in your price range since houses have come down quite a bit.

If you want to be within a 30 minute drive to downtown, you can live almost anywhere with your price range.

Ahwatukee is a great choice. If I didn't have a special place in my heart for the historical homes downtown, I would probably choose to live in Ahwatukee. South Mountain park is wonderful. But depending on how deep west and south into the 'world's largest cul-de-sac' you go, it may take more time to get downtown from there, so you want to keep that in mind while looking around.

I love Ahwatukee but as Xica_da_Silva said, the Commute would probably be someting to re-consider. It looks pretty close to everything but the I-10 traffic can be pretty nightmarish.

There are so many areas that would fit your criteria that you really need to come out here and get a feel for the area you want to live in, not just for the commute, but for other reasons. Then, you can find a realtor to help you sort through and find what you want in a house.
