Our family left Phoenix three years ago and my wife really wants to move back. She grew up there, all of her family is in Phoenix, graduated from college in Arizona, so we have a lot of ties to the area. We keep hearing about how bad the housing market and job market is in Phoenix, should we stay away for a few more years?

If we move back, my background is in business to business sales for things like software and business supplies. Phoenix used to be a great place for a sales job because so many companies were opening up and looking for new suppliers. What is it like now?

The job market doesn't sound so good. The housing market sounds great if you are moving to the area. It is only bad if you are selling. For you the market is great. I am looking for a job myself. Especially with the economy in California hurting and the Hospital that I work at having lay offs.

I think we are number 2 from the bottom as far as jobs go. Very depressing holiday season. Time to be grateful for the little things and let the IPODS go.

The main question is are both of you currently employed where you are at? If you are, completely forget about moving to Phoenix, or anywhere else for that matter right now. However, if you are both out of work, and have nothing to lose, then I would say go for it.

Have you spoken to your pervious employer in Arizona? Business to business sales might not be hurting much. Our company, rather large, just upped employment and our budget for purchases such as those you listed are always growing. This is similar in higher ed, solar, medical fields, etc and it is a better market for buyers in Phoenix. I would check with those you know in your field to find out what is going on in the industry.

If you can telecommute since a sales job, this would be good for all of you, as the housing market is good, as said, for buyers, or look outside the box if the employment is at home and look close for even less....
