Hey, so my husband and I (30) are going to visit my parent(60) in Gilbert Az over the xmas holiday. My parents just moved there so we are looking for some ideas for entertainment. We're up for anything. We are all pretty active and adventurous.Love a good time accompanied by good food and drinks.
Thanks in advance!

That link has a lot of stuff that's not entertainment related.

Are the parents adventurous and active and looking for a good time, too, or are you just bringing them along?

There's dinner theatre on that side of town (I'm not sure what's playing now) and there's Casino Arizona with the Showstoppers show which gets great reviews-- that's just a trip up the 101 into effectively south Scottsdale, although the casino is just inside the Salt River Pima reservation.

If you have time head up to Sedona for a day of hiking.

Kind of touristy but when my parents visit they always get a kick out of the saloon at Goldfield Ghost Town in Apache Junction which isn't too much of a drive on the 60 from Gilbert. There's a patio out back that overlooks the Superstitions, folks ride their horses and hitch them outside the saloon, and there's usually musical entertainment. Good food, good times and kind of a unique "old west" feel. The drive from there to Tortilla Flat is beautiful. The saloon there has saddles to sit in at the bar which is different and can be a fun place to spend some time. The shop next door sells prickly pear ice cream too which I recommend!

If you get me started it may be hard to stop!
Take a hike- Lost Dutchman State Park, Wind Cave at Usery Mountain Regional Park, Telegraph Pass at South Mountain
Take a walk-Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, lakeshore at Tempe Town Lake, the canal path thru Gilbert or Tempe, Boyce Thompson Arboretum
See Christmas lights-Mesa LDS temple, zoo lights or Desert Botanical Garden (get your reservations now, they sell out) or look on AZ Republic web site for map
Go shopping, especially Old Towne Scottsdale
Take the boat ride at Canyon Lake or Saguaro Lake
Take a segway ride at Tempe Town Lake
Are you tired yet?
