Which of these do you think will be best when traveling with teens? Supposedly the Hilton has a water park attached...is it worth the extra 20 bucks per night. Plus is it even warm enough right now? We will be there for the New Year Holiday.

It's not warm enough right now. At this time of year, I can't recommend Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak. It's not bad place, though, when the temps are higher, especially if you have kids.

I had relatives stay at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak around Halloween. The pools were all unheated. The hot tubs weren't working and the answer to the question, "When will they be fixed?" was "We don't know". The restaurant on the corner of 16th and Morten is closed indefinitely. The hotel was not busy at this time of year so I asked when is "season", when does it get busy? "February" was the one word response. The staff was young and seemingly inexperienced which, for an established resort, stood out for me. I expected better. While I would recommend this hotel when everything is working, it seems the economy has taken its toll. The water park looked great but it's only good for the warmer months. If your teens like to hike in the desert, this hotel has a major plus: the mountain preserve is within a mile drive and they can go hiking to their hearts' content. Wonderful views abound. Easy access via the 51 to the rest of what the Valley has to offer.
