As for homeowners, they had a lot of exposure in Florida. You might do better to shop around for a company that does not write policies in that state. No sense in paying hurricane losses living in AZ. Could also be that the replacement cost of the house has gone up a lot. The inflated prices have some downsides in insurance and taxes.
I got a check back too for my rv insurance. I agree that the rate might have gone up because the Assessed value of your house is almost double what it was 2 to 3 years ago, but it is my understanding that the insurance company can't increase the replacement value on your policy unless you call them and ask them to. Then your premium would increase. I really think you need to call your agent and get a very detailed explanation of the increase.

My rate on my house has not gone up and I received a $50 check back on each auto because State Farm has paid out less in my area according to the letter that came with the checks.

Does anyone have any experience with Nationwide? I googled Allstate and found a site called "allstateSUCKS.com" with customer horror stories posted.

The conflict and aggrevation doesn't occur until you actually need to make a claim. Then they scurry every which way to find the loophole that allows them to deny a claim, OR, if they must pay, your rates either go through the roof or you get dropped and/or it becomes more difficult finding someone to insure you. And that's for the small claims too, not just total loss.

Biggest racket EVA!!

I just got a check back for $100 for my one car. Thanks, State Farm!!

Allstate does suck. My bf is leaving them after 13 years and going with my agent at SF because they quoted him HALF of what he's paying now!! After 13 years, NO ONE should even come close to your rates!!!

We switched from Allstate to State Farm as well for the same reason. They were just plain cheaper and their customer service (at least my agency) is terrific!

Default State Farm

State Farm again! Nearly 20 years of service in three states, and never the first complaint from us. We have or have had homeowners', renters' auto and professional insurance. The only reason our life insurance isn't with them is that my dad works for New York Life.
In Phx, we're working with Andy Carillo and couldn't be happier.

I just paid my State Farm insurance on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. $500.00 accident deductible, but full coverage on comprehensive and everything else.
Multiple Line deduction: $47.84
Multicar deduction: $56.28
Vehicle safety deduction: $8.49
Accident free deduction: $64.90
6 month premium: $286.94
I also received an $86.00 refund check from State Farm for this vehicle. State Farm said that they were passing on this refund because the company is doing well financially. That brings my 6 month premium to $200.94. I think that is pretty hard to beat. I have been with them for the past 21 years.
