Hi,

I have a master degree in Social Work from the University of Calgary in Canada. I would like to move th Arizona, would my degree transfer over there or what would I have to do to get a liscened there

You will need to contact the Arizona Dept of Professional Regulation to obtain a license in Behavioral Health if you want to work as a social worker in this state, for most jobs. The fact that your degree is from Canada might not matter as long as the school was accredited and you are a citizen.

I think Arizona is one of the easier states to get licensed in. I do believe out of state transfers apply here, but not sure about Canada. My wife is a social worker, but she was never able to pass the test in Kansas, where she tried previously. She hasn't tried here - she's pursuing other things other than social work.

There also seems to be a fair amount of social work opportunities here, but mostly within Hospice agencies since we have so many people who come here to die!!

Thanks, I am just tired of Canadian winters amd we already have a home in Chandler. How is life in Arizona, the Chandler area. Are they good schools, is it a good place to live.
