It may be best to have him take the option of drivers training. It costs less and I believe it will not be reported to the insurance co.

Read the summons carefully and possibly call them if you need more info.

This may very well teach him a valuable lesson. Be sure he pays whatever cost is involved. If parents pay it, the lesson is minimized.

tell him to take responsibility for his actions....

if traffic school is available for this ticket, that is a good option....it's almost as much as the fine, but has the pros Capt Bill mentioned....follow the instructions VERY carefully if he goes to it!...(how to pay, arrival time, attendance proof)

  1. Pay the fine.
  2. Ground him.

Just pay it. Well, make HIM pay it! I got one too and paid it. No points on my record and no raise in insurance rates. I asked my insurance agent just to be sure!

How fast was he going? Knowing that would impact my reaction, certainly he has to pay.

Most people go a bit over, but if it was something crazy like 50mph on a residential street where kids might pop out then he needs some educating.

If it was going 10 over on the interstate in the evening with no one around then paying for the ticket would be lesson enough.

Thank god they don't have photo radar around here....they'd have taken my car away by now.

Toss the ticket in the trash where it belongs.
