My camera has a misbehaving on-off switch. Is it OK to put a drop of Isopropanol contact cleaner in there?

As a former electronics technician, I don't see why not. On the other hand, it probably won't help. Switches are usually pretty sealed up, so it's not likely the issue is dirt on the contacts. As a long shot, it's probably worth a try though.

Instead of alcohol, use "electrical contact cleaner." This stuff is sold at electronic stores, and often at automobile parts stores. Don't remember to remove the batteries from the camera, specially if you use alcohol

becareful with some of those contact cleaners, they eat plastics as well as can pit fine contacts. some are also conductive and can create all kinds of trouble in fine electronics with their minute currents . .the best i found for cameras is sold at radio shack and is called deoxit.. its not cheap but it works great.
