Excellent photos surprised I didn't find this thread earlier. You have a good eye for framing and catching objects at good times. Thank you for sharing.
The photo of Kazan with the minarets makes me wonder, if in the Soviet days, they ever thought of camouflaging some ICBM missiles by disguising them as minarets?
Thanks again look forward to checking back for more of your work.
Hello dear readers.
Well, winter has come in Nizhny Novgorod. I glad to meet it and to photograph it!
Frost and rime (hoarfrost, hoar... oh, google-translater, what's the difference between all these words? ) create a sense of celebration. And we are preparing to celebrate the New Year day. And how are you?
I wish you а happy winter holidays and to be kind!
lol! I'm from California, I don't know what hoarfrost is.
THANK YOU for your beautiful photos! I'm thinking the best time to visit Novgorod is in the winter! btw, Nizhny Nov. is a separate city from Novgorod ("Velikii" Novgorod), or is it a lower district of Novgorod?
You could make holiday cards with some of these photos! The red paint, and red-and-green onion domes, you know?

Absolutely different cities - Velikiy Novgorod (Mister Great Novgorod) ancient city northern-west from Moscow, a cradle of democracy in Russia, population 235 000. Nizhni Novgorod (Gorkiy in Soviet times) is rather younger, big industrial and economic center, is in the east from Moscow, population 2mln.

Well, many of Russians don't know that difference. But they must!
No, winter is not the best time to visit Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod or any other northern territory cities. As usual winter here has no sunny days, it has just gray, cold, wind and depressive. It is not any Switzerland ski resort
Other way is summer. Summer is lovely...
