Sorry...! I just could not pass this one. The last place I worked at we have male and female plumbers, so we were told that, "from now on lest refrain from calling "manholes" manholes. Instead, call them people holes, or just street work holes."
Well, these things should be called "people-hole lids" instead? Or maybe take the hole out off there and call them, "worker hole lid"?

Maybe Peoplehattan? On the serious side, some of the older manhole covers you and others have posted are quite fancy. Back in the day things like that were made of high quality and looks, which makes them interesting to collectors.
