I have always referred to them as "flutterby's" 'cuz butter doesn't fly and these beautiful creature are in constant flutter motion! we have a conservatory that raises them near us and I love going there!

i find the ring flash is just to flat looking for my taste.

i use the sb-900 and my wife badcook5 uses the sb-800 and we use this little 9.00 buck softbox that slides over the flash and really softens things.

we used it for the first time this past weekend .

the above photos are using that box.

i like 1 and 2.

3 and 4 are a little to soft for my taste. i like nice sharp eyes. if the eyes are sharp the rest of the photo can be a little soft or blurred.

Cool. I agree with you about the eyes. Thanks for the advice!
