I'm really enjoying the talent and wide range of subjects shown here myself!
Just a tip on the best f-stop for sharp photos. Set it at F:8 and forget about it. That is usually the F-stop designed to be the sharpest on most lenses. The high priced pro level long zooms with fast glass in the F1.4 to 2.8 range or so are usually designed to be sharpest around F:4 to 5.6. However, most consumer glass will give best results at F:8. The lens I used for the Mallard Duck was a 40 year old 200mm F4.0 Super Takumar screw mount lens used with an adapter on a Pentax *1st DS.
Thanks so much for taking the time to explain. It seems every photographer has their own special combination that works for their specialty. I noticed that several of yours just seemed to hit that narrow enough depth of field I was trying to achieve. I gave up on 4.0 and had been playing with 5.6 with my 4.0 lens. I'll move up a bit and see what I can come up with. Too bad today will be rainy!
Gizmo congrats on your "parenthood."
Elina is that "Flexfly" a special lens or something computer generated? It's interesting and disturbing all at once, a little like an Escher.
kdog that's pretty rugged looking terrain your silver beast (jeep) is sitting in. I'll bet it gets you out to some pretty unusual sites for photography. I've often wished I had one here for some of the old logging and mountain roads.
I love my Jeep. It's one of my best pieces of photography gear. And yes, it gets me out to some great places to take pictures. Unlimited almost, as 95% of Arizona is unpaved.
I do miss Arizona and you have the perfect vehicle for getting great pictures! I prefer convertibles myself and have perfected a "flat-tire" method of driving through the Arizona Desert. I really should do a better job of keeping my car washed and waxed 'though . . .
That is awesome. Please tell me where that is. PM me if you prefer.
You've got to miss Arizona. You'll never find anything that interesting in NY. I moved here from NY, so I know.
