Messier 1 - The location corresponds to a supernova observed by astronomers in China and the Middle East in 1054, now known as SN 1054. At the center of the nebula lies a pulsar, a neutron star spinning roughly 30 times per second, yet only ~30km across.
M1 lies approximately 6.5 kly away, though its exact distance is still being determined. It’s approximately 13ly across in its longest dimension.
