Is the Breadworks still on Brighton Rd. on the NS.? Great bread. I've been gone from Pgh. for 20 year but still have'n found better bread. Before they built the new place they worked out of a little store farther north. There was an alley behind the shop were my son and his buddies would hang out and play football. one day he comes home with this big bag filled with bread and I say to him where did he get it. He tells me the guy at the new bakery gave it to him and his friends. Not that I did'nt believe him but lets just say he wasn't an angel in those days. So over to the store we go with bag in hand. The guy says yea he gave it to the boys because the business was expanding so fast they had to put the freash baked bread near the loading dock to wait for the next truck to come pick it up and he told the boys rather them sneaking up in the dock and stealing some bread off the rack if they just came in and ask he would give them some. The Breadworks had loyal custmers for the rest of the time we lived in PGH.

I don't know. I buy their ciabatta at Penn Mac in the strip, usually to eat with St. Andre. It's definitely my favorite bread for cheese.

Dudts Bakery in Allison park....THAT is truly the best! Especially the butter cream icing. Everyplace tries to copy it but none can match it!

Dozen Bakery and Oakmont are tied for me! I would like to try "Vanilla" in East Liberty...a co-worker of mine raves about them.

I LOVE Dudts! I grew up with their petit fours and birthday cakes. Go there, you won't be disappointed!

Dozen is still my favorite, but I have yet to try either the patisserie further up Butler St or the one in Millvale.
