I was talking to someone about Sidney and they told me if you are out for over a month with a concussion, it is possibly a career ending situation. This would be a huge loss for the city and obviously the Penguins. Malkin is out for the season and before people start saying he isn't any good, he has had two 100+ point seasons. Those are rare for any NHL player to say the least and I believe he was playing injured much of this season. Anyway, Crosby is back home in New Scotland and that itself says a lot. Sure would be bad for the city if the Penguins lose Crosby. He is a class act on and off the ice. One of the nicest sports stars in Pittsburgh. Always visiting hospitals and doing great things in the area as well as a great work ethic. I know someone that knows him well and he is always telling me what a authentically nice guy he is. Rare in the sports world. Hope he can recover from this.

I agree, something is up with him being absent so long.

He was at Make-a-Wish for my friend's son and my friend said he was really super nice, but most of the Pens were really cool. Hard to say what will happen? Sure is a blow to the franchise.

Yeah this is very sad...but I think he's either looking at some sort of longterm issue that could force him to quit, or in the very least he could be facing "Eric Lindros" type of frequencies that could affect him for the duration of his career. If he does come back and has another this season or even next season...it's Eric Lindros deja vu and probably a shortened career.

I don't live in Pittsburgh but I am a huge Crosby fan. I think the Pens are just being ultra careful with their star player. Rushing him back a game too soon could be disastrous so they're taking all the time in the world (as they should be) in handling this crisis. Heck, I say take the rest of the season off to be on the safe side. I know that's pretty drastic but the you want this guy around for the next twenty years. Play it safe!

He's pretty easy on the eyes, too.

I think this could also be a lesson to the NHL, hits to the head are not necessary to play the game.

That hit he took at the classic was so wrong. It clearly states in the rule book that you can hit a player if he is playing the puck. Sidney was no where near the puck on that play, yet so many think it was okay? I guess I don't get that. The check to the boards seem okay. It is a tough sport. Guess it is water over the damn now. Just hope he can make a comeback someday. Hard to say.
