I'm looking at a house in Murrysville, and I was wondering what it was last sold for. Does the county have a website where I can easily find the info?

Address: 3201 Cambridge Court, Murrysville, PA 15668

Yeah, they have it on the web. Click on "e-services" from the county homepage to get started.

Thanks! I found it. It doesn't have the original sales price, though, just the assessed value (which is 40k vs. the 200k sales price - is that normal or something to be worried about for tax purposes?)

It was built in 77, and it's entirely possible that it was a one-owner home from the pics.

Wow, that site is lame. I can't see a way to tell what address each one is! And yeah, doesn't look like they have the ownership history. For example, on Beaver County and Allegheny County you can see the previous sale prices and when they were booked, useful info. Although there should still be ways to get the previous sale info. Real estate pros may have access to some of this.

The assessed value in any county other than Allegheny is generally nothing like the sale price. It is usually a percentage of the value in some year 30 years or more ago. In Beaver County, for example, it's 50% of said value, which looks to be 1982. In Westmoreland, they haven't reassessed since 1973 according to this 2009 article: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09121/966896-455.stm

Given the 40k in your example, Westmoreland assessment might be 100% of the 1973 value, something like that. My assessed value in Beaver is $26,250 on a house I paid $114k for.
