Hi!

I want to take the bus from Shadyside (5th and Maryland/5th and Morewood) to Pittsburgh airport in the morning. I've heard of the 28x Airport flyer, but it seems like that runs only from Oakland? I can certainly take a connection, but wondering if there is a direct line from Shadyside that I'm not aware of.

Will appreciate all advice, including cheap shuttles/taxis? (I just don't want to park at the airport for a 2 weeks!)

Thanks!!

Nope but you can take a 71B or D on 5th down to 5th/Tennyson in Oakland and pick up the 28X at the same stop.

The only bus that goes to the airport is the 28X, but your best bet would be what BB212 said would be to transfer in Oakland.

I don't know too much about shuttles, but I think my friend told me when she went to Indianapolis last year, an airport shuttle picked her up at her house and took her to the airport. She lives in Penn Hills. This could be your best bet.

Taxis are too expensive.

Yeah, the beautiful thing is that the 28X runs through downtown and Oakland, so if you've a bus route in your neighborhood that goes to either one (increasingly unlikely these days it seems) you can transfer to the 28X to the airport. I feel like if you're coming from Shadyside the 28X is probably the best way to go. Aside from Blackbeauty's suggestion, if you're close to the East Busway you could take that into downtown and transfer to the 28X there as well.

Yeah, taxis should be like a final solution, late night, incapacitated, and/or no bus goes here or there option.

Supershuttle wil provide door-to-door service, but it is about $30 each way.

That sounds a little cheap... there is no lot at the airport that could beat that though.

You could save yourself the transfer if you walk over to Forbes/Morewood and pick up the 28X there. Its where the route begins.

Inbound it does stop on Fifth/Morewood before it turns towards CMU, but I believe that may be a discharge only stop.
