The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is a world-class auto event. Not only is it America’s largest vintage auto racing event, it's the only one run on public streets. Additionally, with the international car show on the golf course surrounding the races through Schenley Park, it's the only one of it's kind in the world. Over 2000 vehicles are displayed on the golf course fairways and are organized by country and manufacturer.

Approximately 250,000 people attend, many from Europe and other parts of the world. The entire event covers 450 acres. It's a free event for charity run by 1200 volunteers to benefit the Autism Society and the Allegheny Valley School. It started in 1983 and has grown into one of the nicest auto events in the country. The event has raised $2.7 million.

Saturday July 23rd and Sunday 24th

9:00 am to 5:00 pm

* Free admission *

I have been attending the PVGP for over 20 years, and it's an outstanding event for car nuts , like myself. The Car Show on Saturday is really first class, with hundreds of vehicles on display.
This year's Marque of the Year is Porsche, and the local Porsche Club is trying to have, I believe, 1,000 Porsches on display, which may prove difficult. I understand that they should have close to 500, at least.
It's a lot of walking, and it's usually bloody hot, so bring water if you are going. There are plenty of food vendors, and the necessary "facilities" are also plentiful.
The price is right, and it's an event Pittsburgh should be proud of.

The Car Show is Saturday and Sunday, with thousands of vehicles on display.

But yes, Saturday the show is a little bit bigger and the better of the two days.

The Saturday Car Show is substanially larger than that of Sunday; hundreds more cars shown that day. Yes, there are cars still on display Sunday, but nothing like Saturday. I've been attending for 20 + years, both days, trust me!

If you are going for the car show. You really have to go on Saturday. Sunday is empty compared with Saturday. For me the car show is the draw not the race. I also enjoy walking up and own pit row.
