I was about to post something regarding this unique event, as I am actually one of the two interns for this yeas Grand Prix.

The 23rd is the main international car show day beginning at 9am with time trials on the Schenley track throughout the day- the 24th is the actual races with patron parking for people to have picnics/parties on the course and watch the races, along with smaller car shows for those who decide to show up and park together. Over 200,000 spectators attend this weekend, and the percentages of those with college degrees and salaries above 75k is astounding. It also has an $11m impact on the City of Pittsburgh.

The Kick Off Rallye is this Sunday the 10th and begins on Craig St. in Oakland, with the actual 10 days of events beginning on Friday with the sold out Gala, followed on Saturday the 16th/Sunday the 17th with vintage races at BeaverRun Race Track in Beaver Country. The Monday-Friday events are all listed on the website @ Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Association | 2011 Events (http://www.pvgp.org/67461012312852830/site/default.asp - broken link)
Its unbelievable the amount of work that goes into this 10 day festival (no longer just a two day event), and out of the hundreds of people who make this event happen each year, only one is paid. The rest are volunteers.

Feel free to email me at gbpriv@gmail.com if you have any questions.

This year's Marque of the Year is Porsche, and the local Porsche Club is trying to have, I believe, 1,000 Porsches on display, which may prove difficult. I understand that they should have close to 500, at least.
It's a lot of walking, and it's usually bloody hot, so bring water if you are going. There are plenty of food vendors, and the necessary "facilities" are also plentiful.
The price is right, and it's an event Pittsburgh should be proud of.
Yes, they're really trying to get 1000 Porsches which would be fantastic, but somewhat insane logistically.. The 356 club has about 150 registered, which is great for a particular model, so maybe they're getting close to that 1000.

It looks like typical PVGP weather; that is, scorching hot & humid, with a chance of a thunderboomer. I swear, I have been going for 20 + years, and that is almost always the weather for the PVGP. I can remember perhaps two years when it wasn't very hot & humid.
Oh well, I've come to expect being soaked by sweat, and/or rain by the time I return to my car.
