Amidst all the Batman buzz, it looks like the movie adaptation of the best-seller One Shot, starring Tom Cruise in the lead role, will be shooting here this fall:

Tom Cruise Movie To Shoot In Pittsburgh - Entertainment News Story - WTAE Pittsburgh (http://www.wtae.com/entertainment/28709252/detail.html - broken link)

One Shot is part of a popular series, and there is some speculation this could be a movie franchise, which in turn could potentially mean more shoots for Pittsburgh down the road:

Good for the Burgh, but I'm sorry Cruise is a has been! He's had more flops than the 300pound kid at a public pool...

there is a scientology place on the south side too... I strongly dislike Tom Cruise.. but I guess any Pittsburgh publicity is good, except when it's bad.

I've not read the books but if I had, I think I'd hate the casting. The character is supposed to be 6'5" and 250 lbs. Tom Cruise isn't good enough of an actor to make us believe he is 6'5" and 250 lbs....

Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher.... NOnononono.

Jack Reacher is a 6'5" former US Army MP, turned drifter. He pretty much saves a small town or the entire country in every book.

Cruise = fail
I don't invision any true fan of the books going to see this movie. My brain is now polluted with the thought of TinyTom playing badass Jack Reacher.

Knight & Day actually ended up doing OK overseas, but it does seem like this casting is offending fans of the book (which may or may not matter).

I have a friend who is an extra in movies. He said that in Tom Cruise films, the extras have in their contract that they are not allowed to even look at Tom Cruise.

Must be a strange feeling to have everyone recognize you, know your name, and want to gaze at you.
