They nearly own all of the properties along Forbes up until Craig Street. Somewhere in their plans was a joint CMU-Oakland plan to build a medium-rise hotel in the parcel of land you just described where the PNC Bank sits now.

Probably should do like Georgia Tech did. Build a Hotel/Conference center.

I thought the hotel was slated for the land across the street where the old Exxon station is, but I may be misremembering.

I just picked up a free insulated cup and fleece blanket commemorating the donation. They're also giving free food to Humanities staff/students. I wonder how much the university spent on these festivities. Someone was saying that it cost $100K to book Guster.

So much for the higher education bubble.

Why does someone naming a college after their mother "grind your gears" for 265 million dollars the man should be legally allowed to change the students names

Because I'm not a huge fan of naming not a building, but an entire college in a university, after someone who never attended that college and has no connection to that university. I thought it was tacky when they named the Tepper School of Business (which I still call GSIA,) but at least he is an alum. Not everything needs to go to the highest bidder. Can't wait for the Tostitos College of Fine Arts.

By giving all that money they immediately have something to do w/ the college. And if a large corp like Pepsi wants to give butt loads of money to my alma mater and improve it making my degree look better I welcome them.

It worked for Emory. They've got a lot of Coca-Cola stock.

Talk about rapid merchandising! Please don't tell me they were made in China.

That sucks for the rest of the campus.

And I guess technically, they don't have the money yet. And I thought the Scots were supposed to be thrifty to a fault.

That would be the corrupting influence of the Mellons (being Irish).
