At Consol Energy Center:

League confirms Pittsburgh will host 2012 NHL draft - ESPN

An estimated 9million dollar punch to the cities economic face.

Seems like a win win.

I am surprised this isn't talked about much more than it has been. I don't think people understand the impact of this. It is an international sport with people coming from all over the world. Countries like Finland, Sweden and Russia have people visiting. It is international exposure for our city. This is great news and a huge win for Pittsburgh. Hope the visitors enjoy their stay and come away from Pittsburgh surprised at how nice it is here. We need all the exposure we can get and this is international exposure, not just some Philly Fans in for a ball game.

I tried to get tickets when they released them at 10am. I thought I could wait and when I went on at 11 they were gone.

What's funny is how butthurt other NHL fans are about this. Ironically, none of them cared about where the NHL draft has been hosted in previous years, but this year they're all made as hell, because clearly Gary Bettman kisses Pittsburgh's ass!

Sorry, but the real bandwagon here isn't Penguins fans, but rather, people who hate the Penguins. It's similar to hatred of the New England Patriots and the Miami Heat.

Sure is odd how some people in other cities hate the Pens. They are not a dirty team like the Fliers and they play good hockey. Odd stuff. The Pens are just a good hockey team, nothing really out of the ordinary. I mean look at the penalty minutes teams get. The Pens are just average and not some nasty team. Ah well, whatever. The players are super kind to the city and really do a lot of stuff for children. A friend of mine has a child in the Make-a-Wish program and had lunch the the Penguins. He said they were amazing and so kind to all the kids. To me that is more important than a bunch of outsiders that have no clue about who the Pens really are.

Anyway, this isn't about all that. This is more about visitors from all over coming to Pittsburgh. Most haven't a clue how far and wide this reaches. They just think, duh some sporting thing is here. Um, there are people from all over the world attending this and checking out Pittsburgh. More great exposure.

They were gone by 10:05. I had some in my cart, but the site was super slow and my tickets somehow get removed from my cart while I was making an account.

People on Craigslist are asking a good amount for first round ones.

Side note: Pens are the 4th most expensive ticket in the NHL and the only American team in the top 5. Average ticket price is $160. Heck, 10 years ago you could take the whole family to a Pens game and not pay $100.

In spite of that, average attendance at Penguins home games was over 100% of the arena's capacity. Now what was that about how Pittsburghers are poor? Oh yeah...nothing.
