Yes, especially outside of corporate housing. You will also pay a premium for the advantages of a month-to-month.

You can get that in Cranberry, but it's probably way farther out than you want to be.

Thanks for the message John Dark. Cranberry is a little far and looking that far from the city I can find some other places cheaper than the one you mentioned.

I just found Brentwood townhomes on Jameson Dr and Sunview Dr. Does anyone have an opinion on those? They have a garage and are in my price range.
Also Willow Haven home rentals on willowhaven Dr just across Rt 51. Does anyone know anything about either of these properties??

A suggestion - see if you can find everything you want in a place except the garage, and then look for a separate garage rental for your classic vehicle.

Are you from the area and have some ties to Penn Hills? I just found it odd you were looking there.

If you are willing to give up the college atmosphere and go 20 minute drive away, like PH would be, you have unlimited options if nothing else is pulling you to a particular neighborhood.

For instance, you will see about the same exact commute to the same part of the parkway from places like Wilmerding and Turtle Creek and although I haven't looked, I can pretty much guarantee you can rent a house with a garage around there for less than $800.

Hell if you have a little money saved just buy a decent house there for 40-50k and rent it after you move on in a few years.

Plum Borough always has town home rentals available with 1 or 2 car garages and most are pet friendly and rent is very unreasonable. Just kidding. You would be near the Parkway East which has Oakland exits but traffic is heavy. For $800 and your requirements it's a good place to live.

Any ideas on townhouse communities or private places for rent?

Thanks a lot.
Right off of Mt. Lebanon Blvd. Someone has a townhouse for rent. Not sure of the exact address, but if you are heading towards Castle Shannon from Washington it will be on your right about a quarter mile down. I'm not sure what they are asking, but I live in a duplex with a garage near it and I pay 950 with 2 dogs (the owner charges an extra 25 rent for each dog) so it would be 900 without my 2 dogs. The duplex has been up for sale and rent for a while, so they may hve dropped the asking price a little.

I would definitely check out Brookline area. I rent a SFH with 2500 square feet completely updated on a double lot. It has a huge fenced in yard and an off street parking pad. I pay $1150 which I know is more than you want to pay, but mine is one of the nicest houses on the street. There are lots of houses for rent and it seems several of them have garages. I commute to downtown in 10-15 even with having to go through the tunnel. It's really only 4 miles to downtown, and probably 7-8 miles to Oakland depending on which way you go. I love this area, and feel like you can really get a good bang for your buck here without sacrificing safety.
