Move back to Da Burgh after 8 years of being fried in AZ.

Anyone here a road bicyclist around the cranberry area?

I am looking for areas that I can get on my bike and not get run over.

Obviously in the center of cranberry will not work.

JusT google road biking in butler county and you will get lots of options. Dh and I have ridden all over butler but tend to stay up further north of cranberry in the Moraine state park area. We love it there but really any where off the main drag is great. Slippery rock and Saxonburg are great areas too. Then thre is south ..all over Marshall, pine township, and richland township. If you like trails the Butler Freeport trail is great but a but on the other side of the county. I prefer riding my mountain bike on it though but have ridden my road bike.

I am a cyclist and work in the cranberry/warrendale area, but don't live here.

Try Brusch Creek Road/Commerce Drive and Knob road. Lots of riders using this area. Not sure what kind of bike you ride, but if you have a cyclocross and/or hybrid with multi terrain tires, you can ride the crushed gravel trail system off of Knob road. And to edit, this area I am describing is Marshall Township as the above poster described

Thanks for the info. I ride Road only so the trails don't work unless they are paved.

A lot of the country roads at the edges of Cranberry are relatively empty. One of my short rides takes me venturing to the Northeast of Cranberry around Callery Town (Plains Church, Callery Rd, Myoma, Forthsyth, Mars Road). It is scenic and very hilly, but I like hills. Typically on a 12 mile ride, I get passed by cars only a handful of times (except on 228). However I would stay off of Franklin Road as there is consistent traffic, not much of a shoulder, and winds quite a bit. To the west of the town, there is some nice country roads as well, but I have only driven them, so not sure how safe they are.

The more climbing and less cars the happier I am. Oh yea and trees on the sides of the road are a plus.
8 years in Phoenix is sending me back to PA to keep my sanity.
