Here in Sewickley in the northwestern corner of Allegheny County we have continued to miss nearly ever rain event for the past 2 months. Thunderstorms over Ohio dive south west or pass north of us. The ground is cement hard and wilting of the vegitation has begun. I can't recall a spring where for this village, where we have had virtually no thunderstorms or for that matter rain for the better part of spring. This could be one dry summer for some of us.

They keep missing us too. I swear it's raining all around us, just not on our street.

Even when the forecast says rain, we water the gardens because we don't believe we will ever get rain.

Got a good shower or three last night here, very heavy at times. But while there was a similar good shower downtown this afternoon, I don't believe that one hit up here at all.

Widely scattered showers, this is what they mean.

I tend to stay hyper aware of potential thunderstorms because I have a dog who goes psychotic over them. If we can anticipate them before they start, we can get him calmed down through various methods, so I watch the radar a lot. They almost always seem to start breaking up at the border of OH/WV and PA if the storms are coming from the west. It'll be a giant mass of scary looking storms, and once it hits that border, it splits into a thousand sections and goes around.

Have you found anything that actually works to calm your dog down? With the first thunderclap, my dog melts into a trembling puddle of insanity.

I drive home yesterday from work through Natrona on rt 28 and it was pouring down rain. Once I got to the Pittsburgh mills, everything was bone dry again. Isolated storms ftw.

Have you tried on of the dog jackets they sell at petco? My dog would shake and pee all over the house during storms. Now with the jacket he sleeps!

Can't remember what it is called. I will look it up.

Edit: it is called thunder jacket. Best $40 I have spent.

I second the referral on the Thundershirt. My dog goes absolutely insane (Barking, chasing the Thunder, howling, tap dancing fool) if he doesn't have one on during a storm. Sounds crazy, but it works.

I'll have to give it a shot. I have seen them, but I assumed it was just the stuff of infomercials and never imagined that they actually work!
