This is just awesome:

Tapped, pop-up beer gardens coming to a vacant lot near you

Quote:
Epic and Bar Marco are seeking to partner with landowners who want to gain exposure for an upcoming development project, or with folks who are simply willing to activate an unused space. . . . Saturday’s Tapped event was held on a lot adjacent to Bar Marco’s restaurant on Penn Avenue. Food was provided by the Franktuary food truck and Lucy’s banh mi sandwich cart, with beer from East End and Full Pint breweries. The event lasted from 11 a.m to midnight, with DJ’s, bacci courts, and a block party atmosphere.
The next one will be somewhere in Lawrenceville (TBD).

Awesome! I just hope the PLCB and/or the PPD don't interfere now that the word is out.

Somebody give this guy reputation points for me, please. He took the words right out of my mouth, and I have to spread my reputation points around.

They really are overbearing about these things... Someone needs to sit them down and have a stern talk.

Cool idea though. Looking forward to checking these out.

During the beer festival there were a lot of events like this, so I assume it is legally possible.

I'd guess they have some sort of catering or special events license.

I dropped by the first one they held in the Strip District this past weekend. I was less than pleased and left after like 10 minutes. I really think the idea is fantastic, but the execution is lacking big time. I'm hoping they figure it out before the next events they hold because I would like to see this take off.
